Two weeks ago, I shared that my mom, Diane Foti, was making masks for healthcare professionals in our hometown of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. By now I don’t have to tell you about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve all been impacted by it in some way.

Two weeks ago, I shared that my mom, Diane Foti, was making masks for healthcare professionals in our hometown of Downingtown, Pennsylvania. By now I don’t have to tell you about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. We’ve all been impacted by it in some way. I decided to share my mom’s story on LinkedIn and was shocked by the response. My former colleagues, customers - even an olympic athlete - was proud of what she was doing. It reminded me of a great quote by Mister Rogers about what to do in times of crisis when things get scary. He said “Look for the helpers. You can always find people who are helping.” I never imagined any of this would relate to Specright, but a friend reached out and asked if I had a specification for my mom’s mask. She had a manufacturing facility and wanted to make masks as well. So I called my mom up and asked. I wasn’t surprised by her response - I hear it everyday in my role at Specright. She said there weren’t instructions, but after years of sewing our halloween costumes and school play outfits she created her own design. We call this tribal knowledge.I asked if we could create a digital specification and put it on Specright. She said yes - and I’m excited to say you can access this process specification for creating a handmade mask as a PDF below. You can also download it here. When I shared the original LinkedIn post I mentioned I’m trying to do little things to help: ordering takeout, reaching out to our customers, and supporting small businesses. I hope sharing this mask specification can make a positive impact in a small way on our community. As my Mom says, “if we all do little things to help we can collectively make a big difference.”[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
