Specright, the cloud-based platform for specification data management, has been named a finalist in the PACK EXPO

Technology Excellence Awards, a new awards initiative recognizing innovative technologies of PACK EXPO exhibitors.

Matthew Wright, the founder & CEO of Specright and a 25-year packaging industry veteran, believes this recognition further reinforces the company’s belief that the marriage of technology and packaging will change the industry as never before.

“PACK EXPO is the premier packaging industry event and to be named a finalist in the Technology Excellence Awards is validation that we're helping drive the industry forward,” Wright said. "Our customers are moving specifications out of archaic systems and into Specright. By digitizing their packaging specifications, they're able to better analyze their packaging, reduce costs, and make their products more sustainable."

Wright is also headlining a PACK EXPO Innovation Stage talk on why intelligent packaging specification data management is the future.The finalists were announced by show producer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.

“PMMI believes these awards are another way to drive the industry to keep innovating and meet the ever-growing needs of consumer packaged goods companies,” announced Laura Thompson, senior director of expositions, PMMI, in a news release.

“We are amazed at the response and quality of submissions that we received for this exciting new program,” she added.Specright was selected as a finalist in the prepared foods category alongside two companies with robotics-related products.

According to PMMI, finalists were selected by the following Technology Excellence Awards Panelists:

  1. Stephanie Neil, Editor-In-Chief, OEM Magazine
  2. Ronald Puvak, Managing Director, Contract Packaging Association
  3. Matt Reynolds, Editor, Packaging World
  4. Dr. Bruce Welt, Professor (Packaging Engineering) – Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering, University of Florida
  5. Carlos Diaz, Associate Professor (Packaging Science) – College of Applied Science & Technology, Rochester Institute of Technology
  6. Jane Chase, Executive Director, Institute of Packaging Professionals
  7. Pat Reynolds, VP Editor Emeritus, Packaging World

“With such a great response from exhibitors it was no small task for our panel of top industry professionals to narrow them down to just three finalists in each category,” Thompson added in PMMI’s news release.Show attendees will be able to cast their vote for the winner in each category during the show, with voting opening at 9 a.m. Sunday, October 14 through noon on Tuesday, October 16.

The 50,000 attendees can cast their vote online, on-site at the My Show Planner kiosks, and via the show app.
