He has also been involved in leading multiple M&A deals in the packaging industry and sits on the Packaging Advisory Board at Cal-Poly San Luis Obispo.

Specright, the leader in Specification Management software, today announced the appointment of Laura Foti as Chief Marketing Officer. In this new position, Foti will drive the company’s marketing direction and strategy, and continue to serve on the Specright leadership team. 

Foti joined Specright in 2018 as a Director of Marketing, playing a key role in the early development of Specification Management as a new category of enterprise software. Foti has spent her career at the intersection of manufacturing and technology, working at companies like Deloitte and GE Digital, General Electric’s IIoT software division.

“I joined Specright because I’m passionate about enabling people and companies to make amazing, sustainable things,” Foti said. “Hand-in-hand with our CEO, Matthew Wright, and the rest of the Specright team, we strive to make our mission of a world without waste – where the right thing is made right, every time – a reality. Specification Management is the how, but this is our why.” 

In just five short years, Specright has disrupted the way producers and manufacturers approach making products by introducing and enabling a spec-first approach. Through its purpose-built, patented Specification Data Management™ (SDM) platform, Specright helps companies centralize and standardize data across the various components of the supply chain, to digitize, optimize, and collaborate across suppliers and partners. It’s this data accuracy and visibility that ensures safety and efficiency, as well as helps businesses achieve other benefits including increased profitability and sustainability.

“Creating demand for a new software category is no easy task, and Laura has done just that,” said Linda Boff, GE’s Chief Marketing Officer, who worked on GE’s launch of their own digital business. “I met Laura more than 10 years ago when I hired her as an intern at GE. Since then, she has consistently taken on new roles that challenge her and allow her to make an impact. She’s driven by passion and curiosity, and I’m excited to see where she takes Specright next.” 

With the courage to double down on Specification Management, the Specright team has cultivated a company that’s changing the way people and companies make things because they can spend less time chasing or sharing the data they need. During this time, Foti has been an integral member of the team and has built the marketing organization from the ground up.

“Laura is incredibly driven and has a clear vision for the company and category without having a blueprint,” said Matthew Wright, Specright's founder and CEO. “It’s the combination of her vast manufacturing and technology experience, along with her natural leadership and passion to leave the world better than she found it that makes her the perfect person to lead the marketing team and execute Specright’s mission. Her work over the last four years has been critical to the success the company has seen so far.”

During her tenure at Specright, she edited and helped publish Wright’s book, The Evolution of Products and Packaging, successfully repositioned the company’s annual user group as the Specification Management Summit, the industry’s first conference, and this year evolved the Specright brand, which culminated in the launch of a new website in October before Pack Expo, the industry’s marquee event. 

Through it all, it’s her engagement with customers that keeps her excited about the road ahead.

“I have had the opportunity and pleasure to work with Laura on multiple projects between Johnson & Johnson and Specright,” said Rod Patch, Senior Director of Package Engineering and Product Labeling for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care. “She has been a trusted and reliable partner and I have been impressed numerous times over with her creativity, positive energy and willingness to find a solution that works for both parties.”

Foti was previously named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, 100 Women to Watch by Brand Innovators, and has spoken at various industry conferences. She received a B.S. degree in Public Relations from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of the Public Communications.

“Laura Foti is one of the most effective marketing professionals I have ever met,” said Kange Kaneene, Vice President, North and Latin America and Caribbean, SAP.iO Foundries, who has worked with Foti through Specright’s involvement in the SAP.iO program. “She has the distinct ability to take topics that are not universally familiar and break them down to be consumable to people of all backgrounds.” 

In her new role, she will aim to continue doing just that as Specright looks to help more people and companies make amazing, sustainable things.
