“As more companies embrace a spec-first approach to digitizing their supply chains, it’s important we have a place to gather and collaborate with them as they embark on this journey,” said Matthew Wright, Specright’s Founder and CEO.

Companies like Kimberly Clark, McDonald’s, Mondelez, and PepsiCo have a presence in the Fulton District neighborhood of Chicago, now considered the “tech hub” and innovation center of the city.

“We are impressed with Specright’s growth and are thrilled with our investment in the company and the potential opportunities that can come through a spec-first approach to managing data,” said Howard Katz, Chief Corporate Development Officer, HAVI. “We are excited about their Chicago location and how that could help them more closely partner on innovation.”

The new office will house members of the Specright customer success team and be the headquarters of the newly launched Spec Squad, a team of data experts that gather, standardize, and digitize data from suppliers and legacy systems to help companies get up and running faster in Specright. The office also includes meeting spaces that Specright customers can use to collaborate and innovate with groups across their company, other Specright customers, and their suppliers.

“Most tech companies open offices in cities like San Francisco or Boston,” Wright said. “But for us, it’s more important to be in a manufacturing epicenter, which is what Chicago exemplifies.”

“We’re excited to not only meet with the Specright team in-person more, but have them close by to walk through our facilities as well,” said Nick Malewicki, Director of Supply Chain Engineering at Pactiv Evergreen, the leading manufacturer of fresh food and beverage packaging in North America. “This way we can continuously optimize our processes using data in new ways.”

Malewicki is no stranger to driving innovation and worked with the Specright team to pioneer the duplicate spec feature, which flags existing specs that can be used during the early stages of the product development process.

“While we have employees located across the country and globe, having a physical place where we can live and breathe alongside our customers will be key in helping us continue to drive innovation in Specification Management,” Wright added.
