Beginning in June 2024, Specright is moving away from partnering with Conga for PDF exports. Instead we’re offering a new feature, Spec Export, that’s built into our Specification Data Management platform.

Customers will be notified within 90 days of their Conga renewal date about the opportunity to transition from Conga to Spec Export. If you choose not to move to Spec Export your Conga functionality will not change, but we will put you in direct contact with Conga for renewals moving forward. If you transition to Spec Export, customers will begin transitioning in September 2024 and your Specright Account Management Team will reach out with a timeline as it relates to your Conga renewal date for your specific migration timeline.
Why did Specright decide to make this change?
At Specright, we know dynamic, live data is key, however, we’ve also seen with many customers that there is still a need to generate PDFs for a variety of different use cases, including going to bid, QA/production floor data, formatted BOMs for supplier and retailer reporting, and more. We want to be able to support this functionality in the most seamless way possible – in a way that’s easy to setup and maintain.
As we continue to innovate the Specright platform, it only makes sense for us to support this functionality in-platform vs. with a 3rd party tool. Our goal is to always provide customers with the utmost value, and this transition should not hinder their experience with the Specright platform.
Purpose-built to work with Specright Spec Export has also been designed with simplicity in mind. For example, it will be easy to share redacted data in certain use cases and you won’t have to navigate through an over-engineered tool that’s hard to use. With Spec Export, you will continue to have access to our Customer Success team for best practice recommendations, ensuring accurate exports and improved load times. Easy to maintain With Spec Export, built natively in the Specright SDM platform, there will be alignment between the templates, related lists, and files. Enhancements to Spec Export will be integrated into Specright’s Product Roadmap and released on an ongoing basis each year.
User licenses Spec Export will also allow any user with a Specright license to leverage the functionality. With Conga, users would have to purchase additional licenses to generate PDFs. Customers have highlighted this as a huge pain point. With Spec Export, you won’t have to pay for double licenses.
Continued customer-driven innovation As Conga is a 3rd party tool, we’re not able to shape the roadmap or quickly escalate customer feedback. With Spec Export, we have full ownership over this product so we can continue to offer customers a great product and experience. We already have a detailed product roadmap for Spec Export and are continuously looking at the role PDFs should play in the Specification Management process; providing guidelines and best practices to our customers, so we can innovate accordingly and meet customer needs.
Support & Services With Spec Export, our Customer Success teams will be able to make PDF template updates during implementation.
How much will Spec Export cost?
There is no additional fee for the implementation and migration of Spec Export within the 90 day period of your Conga renewal date. If you decide to move forward with Spec Export in the future there may be additional SDM-as-a-Service hours that need to be contracted. Please reach out to your Account Management Team for specific questions.
When is my Conga renewal date?
Conga renewal dates vary by customer and may not necessarily match up with your Specright platform renewal date. Please reach out to Sage Dessert (sage@specright.com) to learn more about the timeline of your Conga renewal date.
Are you going to continue to service Conga?
Yes, but service hours will need to be purchased. For questions, please reach out to Sage Dessert (sage@specright.com), for specific questions.
I have a limited number of “seats” for Conga, with Spec Export will all Specright users have access to this feature?
Yes, anyone who has access to the Specright platform, can also have access to Spec Export, at no additional cost. But, users can be set up with specific permissions, if all users do not need access. Permission levels can be discussed with the Specright Team during implementation of Spec Export.
Will all my Conga templates be migrated to Spec Export? Or just the most commonly used templates?
Our product team has analyzed the most commonly used templates used by customers in the last 6 months. These templates will be built for the initial September 2024 release and migrated for customers who are ready to transition to Spec Export. We’ll continue to enhance Spec Export in quarterly product releases moving forward, so you can assume additional templates will be released in the next year. If additional templates are needed, additional SDM-as-a-Service hours can be contracted to implement additional templates.
Will the format/template be the same as the Conga export?
Not necessarily, but the data will be the same.Branding customization is available and your migration/implementation team will help walk you through this. Please see the Help Article for example of PDF output from Spec Export.
